Construction work starts at Al Hafa waterfront

The Office of the Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar, represented by Dhofar Municipality and Muscat National Development and Investment Company (ASAAS) declared the beginning of construction works to create Al Hafa waterfront and set up a traditional heritage market in Al Hafa in the Wilayat of Salalah, Dhofar Governorate.

This is in continuation of moving ahead and aspirations of the company in contributing to the diversification of national income sources, expanding projects related to tourism, creating more opportunities for job, and boosting cooperation and partnership between public and private sectors.

ASAAS is building up Al Hafa, a very important waterfront in Salalah and one of the most renowned landmarks of the Dhofar Governorate. It’s one of the leading tourist attractions of the country. This development phase comprises many components with a total area of over 50,000 square meters, including retail and entertainment.

To the current souq, a heritage souq (market) with local architectural design elements will be an alternative. This area will have several small and medium enterprises in addition to drawing foreign brands to meet the needs of the visitors of this souq.

Also, the project will offer public parking spaces that will help the market-goers and visitors to Al Hafa Beach. This package of components comes within the general master plan for developing the area, to be implemented in successive stages.

Ahmed Salem Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ASAAS, referred to the project’s financial viability and the desired return from the investment to the governorate. It will be a distinct addition to the governorate’s tourism and investment projects. He has also mentioned that ASAAS is moving forward to attain the aspirations of the shareholders of this project.
