Hyderabad: The Telangana Waqf Board has written a letter to the Registration and Seal Department to protect the Waqf lands of Dargah Hazrat Mir Momin Chup, also known as Fakhir Mulla.
Waqf Council Chairman Mohammed Saleem has sent a team of officials to investigate the complaints regarding the sale of Waqf properties.
After the investigation, the team of Waqf officials warned the “Mutawalli” (caretaker) of the Dargah not to sell the Waqf properties. It was said that the notified Waqf lands were recently sold by declaring it as personal property.
The Waqf Board has sent a letter to the Registration Department asking them to discontinue the registration of the Waqf properties. The Council also sent copies of the land record to the Registration Division.
About 1,200 acres of land are said to fall under Dargah’s ownership. The Waqf council has recently received many complaints about the illegal intrusion and sale of Dargah lands.
The Waqf Council also wrote a letter to the district collector to protect the Waqf properties. The Council also appeals to the public not to buy Waqf lands as these lands cannot be registered in their names.
The Waqf council has also instituted legal action against those who illegally occupy and sell Dargah lands. According to locals, the land grabbers have been watching the most important Balapur Waqf lands for a long time.
