Nashik, May 9 (UNI) The Cyber Cell of city police have registered a complaint against a bogus Enforcement Directorate commissioner for allegedly demanding ransom from a senior director of the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) here.
An unidentified person pretending to be ED commissioner called director Dilip Thete on Friday and threatened to launch an investigation through the Financial Crimes Branch, the Bribery and Corruption Prevention Department and ED against him based on some files of unaccounted assets in possession of him.
The officer demanded ransom for not filing a case against him.
After it was revealed from his conversation that he was a fake ED officer, Mr Thete lodged a complaint with the Cyber Cell of the city police on Saturday, police said, adding, no arrest has been made so far in this connection.
