Maruti focuses on oxygen generators and joins hands with NCR companies

New Delhi: The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India said on Sunday that it had joined hands with two NCR-based companies to supplement their production of PSA oxygen generators.

The CEO said he realizes the critical importance of installing PSA oxygen plants quickly, both to produce life-saving oxygen and to reduce the huge logistical problems.

It was found that these plants are manufactured by small-scale units with limited resources or the ability to scale up production, MSI said in a statement.

‘We found two companies in the NCR area, Airox Nigen Equipments and SAM Gas Projects. They were flooded with orders but produced only 5-8 plants per month. We decided to use our resources to increase their production, ”he added.

The carmaker noted that from May 1, he started talking to the two entities and quickly agreed with them.

“While technology, quality and performance, as well as all commercial matters, would remain the responsibility of the two companies, MSIL and its suppliers would use their capabilities to scale up production rapidly. MSI’s involvement is on a profitable basis, ” he added.

Airox has its factory in Ahmedabad and SKH Metals, a vendor, is working with them, MSI said.
The company was able to arrange new sources for Zeolite, an imported and critical material for a pressure swing adsorption plant (PSA) that will now transport air cargo, he added.

‘Compressors are another important purchased component. Airox has already achieved a production of one PSA plant per day, and this number will be rapidly increased to 4 per day by May itself. The production in May is expected to be 50-60 plants, ”MSI noted.

The carmaker noted that SAM Gas Projects is assisted by its vendor JBM.

‘The company for its part helps with all critical input. This company is expected to produce 20-30 plants in May, ”he added.

MSI and its suppliers will purchase oxygen plants from these two companies and donate them for medical use.

A separate company team is working to ensure the plant is installed and put into operation as soon as possible, the carmaker said.
