Lucknow: Jailed SP leader Azam Khan and his son shifted to Medanta hospital for treatment

LUCKNOW: Rampur MP and former minister in SP government Azam Khan and his son, Abdullah, who are currently lodged in Sitapur district jail were shifted to L-3 hospital in Medanta, Lucknow on Sunday.
The duo had tested positive for Covid on May 1. The duo were among 15 other jail inmates, who had contracted the virus.
DG Prisons, Anand Kumar said that based on the examination of a panel of doctors it was decided to send Rampur MP Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam Khan to an L-3 level hospital in Lucknow and Medanta was decided for it.
Prison officials said that Azam and his son were sent to Lucknow escorted by an armed police vehicle.
Azam Khan along with his son and wife have been languishing in jail since February 2020.
