‘The carriers spend 3-3.5 lakhs on the treatment of each driver if he tests positive COVID-19, ”Singh said.
The government should allow free mobility, along with the provision of food and water for oxygen tank drivers on RO-RO (Tankers on Rail and Air). Fixed costs must be paid in consultation with the stakeholders on a per kilometer basis (as in normal times), Singh said in the statement.
There is a need for timely payment, rewards, incentives and financial assistance to the carriers involved by the manufacturers in the oxygen supply chain, he said.
Other issues such as the need to address the fear factor among the managers by holding periodic counseling sessions, prioritizing vaccination of the managers and COVID-19 Insurance coverage for, among other things, was also raised during the meeting, AIMTC said.
