Thane, May 8 (UNI) The demand for vaccination at door steps in Thane district is growing day by day with various sections making representations to the government to the effect.
The Thane Co-op Advocates Association, has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and urged him to permit vaccination at the housing complexes itself. Association President Adv. Satnamsingh Rasgotra told newsmen that he has made the similar request to the district collector and the commissioner too besides the Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde.
He said that by going in for the vaccination at their door steps the government will avoid various issues presently being faced by the health teams.
There are a large number of women and children besides elderly persons who find it difficult to come to the centers and take the shots. Moreover this will avoid crowds at the centers and make readymade voulenteers available and have a discipline at the complexes.
Similar request has also been made by the Standing Committee Chairman Sanjay Bhoir, of the TMC to the Thane Municipal Commissioner and the district collector.
As the requests from individual housing societies are pouring in for organizing the vaccination at their premises, one of the complexes Eden Woods, says that with nearly 2000 members it can very well organize the drive. Secretary of the complex TN Raghunatha told media that by doing this the government will not not only save on manpower but also the stress of the staff and logistics.
Also some societies can tie up and organize the drive at a centralized location in their locality so that the citizens are not not required to travel much and crowd one location he said.
In a related development the Thane Small Scale Industries Association (TSSIA) has urged the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to utilize the ESIS hospital at Thane and Ulhasnagar for the purpose of treatment of Covid patients.
Association President Dr. MR (Appa) Khambete said in a memorandum to the Chief Minister and a copy to Health Minister Rajesh Tope that these hospitals are lying vacant presently with hundreds of beds and can be well utilized for the purpose of Covid without any additional expenses.
