Leicester City 2-4 Newcastle United - MATCH REPORT

Newcastle United derailed Leicester City's bid to qualify for next season's Champions League with a 4-2 win on Friday that all but secured their place in the Premier League.

Defeat left Leicester third, two points in front of Chelsea and five ahead of West Ham, with both London clubs having a game in hand over the Foxes.

This reverse came five years to the day since Leicester received the Premier League trophy, having started the 2015/16 season as 5 000/1 rank outsiders to be crowned English champions.

SATURDAY, 8 MAY

Leeds United 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Leeds beat managerless Tottenham 3-1 on Saturday to put a huge dent in Spurs' ambitions of securing a coveted Premier League top-four spot.

Son Heung-min cancelled out Stuart Dallas's early goal for Leeds midway the first half but Patrick Bamford restored the home side's lead shortly before the break and substitute Rodrigo struck late on.

Sheffield United 0-2 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace beat already relegated Sheffield United 2-0.

Man City 1-2 Chelsea - MATCH REPORT

Chelsea forced Manchester City to put their Premier League title party on hold on Saturday, winning 2-1 to boost their own chances of a top-four finish in a dress rehearsal for the Champions League final.

Raheem Sterling gave the home side the lead just before half-time at an empty Etihad Stadium but Hakim Ziyech levelled and Marcos Alonso bundled in the winner in the dying seconds.

Liverpool 2-0 Southampton - MATCH REPORT

Liverpool kept alive their hopes of a top-four finish in the Premier League as Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara sealed a 2-0 win against Southampton on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp's side moved above Tottenham into sixth place thanks to Mane's first-half header and Thiago's first goal for the club in the final moments at Anfield.

Liverpool's first victory in four games in all competitions leaves them six points behind fourth-placed Leicester with a game in hand in the race to qualify for next season's Champions League.

SUNDAY, 9 MAY

Wolves 2-1 Brighton

Morgan Gibbs-White scored his first Premier League goal as Wolverhampton Wanderers came from behind to beat a Brighton & Hove Albion side, who had two players sent off.

In the 90th minute, Gibbs-White found the top corner to secure a first Wolves top-flight victory over Brighton and move them on to 45 points in 12th position.

Aston Villa 1-3 Man United - MATCH REPORT

Manchester City's Premier League title celebrations were put on hold again as Manchester United fought back to win 3-1 at Aston Villa on Sunday.

Defeat for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side would have handed the title to City and their local rivals would have enjoyed seeing Villa's Bertrand Traore opening the scoring midway through the first half.

City could have started the party if second-placed United lost at Villa Park, but their arch-rivals kept the leaders' champagne on ice as they came from behind thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani.
