PM remembers Maharana Pratap on his birth anniversary

New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tributes to Maharana Pratap on his birth anniversary.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said that Maharana Pratap made ‘Maa Bharti’ proud by his unparalleled valour, courage and martial expertise. His sacrifice and dedication to the motherland will always be remembered, Mr Modi added.

Maharana Pratap (9 May 1540 – 19 January 1597) was a king of Mewar, a region in north-western India in the present-day state of Rajasthan. He was titled as "Mewari Rana" and was notable for his military resistance against the expansionism of the Mughal Empire and was known for his participation in the Battle of Haldighati and Battle of Dewair in sixteenth century.
