Vaccination for 18 plus in 11 more Uttar Pradesh districts to begin on Monday: CM

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said that vaccination facility for people in 18 to 44 year age group, which had been started in seven district from May 1, will begin in 11 more districts from Monday.
VARANASI: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that DRDO’s temporary Covid hospital’s 250-bed ICU wing will become operational in Varanasi on Monday when vaccination for 18 to 44 year age group people will also be started in 11 more districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The CM said that rapid pace of spread of Covid infection in its second wave had created terror but combined efforts in UP had not only succeeded in bringing down the graph active cases from 3.10 lakh recorded on April 30 to 2.33 lakh on Sunday in the state but rate of new positive cases in total people getting tested is also reducing.
Talking to reporters after taking stock of DRDO’s hospital and reviewing the works done for combating Covid menace in Varanasi division at Banaras Hindu University on Sunday afternoon, Yogi said, “The initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had led to creation of 750-bed temporary hospital for Covid patients by DRDO here and its 250-bed ICU wing with ventilators is ready to begin its services from Monday.”
The doctors, paramedical and housekeeping staff of Army Medical Corps have reached with the completion of ICU wing of DRDO’s temporary hospital, he said adding that works at two other wings with 500 oxygenated beds will also complete and start operating with the help of staff being allotted by BHU.
Yogi said that local administration, police and other departments will assist in administration, fire safety, supplies of power and water.
CM also said that vaccination facility for people in 18 to 44 year age group, which had been started in seven district from May 1, will begin in 11 more districts from Monday.
He said that 1.37 crore people in 45 years and above age group have become vaccinated in the state so far while one lakh people in 18 to 444 year age group have also been administered vaccine. He said that with the support of government of India sufficient vaccines are getting available to the state.
In order to ensure that crowding at vaccination centre is not accumulating the problems the number of vaccination centres is being increased while prior registration and seeking time slot by beneficiaries is also being made mandatory, he said adding, it will also help in minimizing the wastage of vaccine, which has been brought down below 2% mark in the state so far.
