
West Bengal reports 124 COVID-19 deaths in past 24 hours
Kolkata/UNI: Even as the West Bengal government announced partial lockdown in the districts and city to break the chain of viruses contagion, the second surge of Covid-19 began to take record number of toll 124 in the past 24 hours.
Of the 124 deaths reported on Sunday, North 24 parganas district topped the list with 34 casualties, followed by Kolkata 28, South 24 parganas 7, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri 7, Bankura 6, Dakshin Dinajpur 5, Uttar Dinajpur 5, Howrah 5, Hooghly 4, Birbhum 4 and Paschim Medinipur 4.
With the rise of pandemic patients, particularly in urban and city areas, the scarcity of medical facilities was also felt.In the past 24 hours the graph went upto 19441 new covid cases and death was reported to 124 and total death so far 12327 since March 2020.
North 24 parganas has registered a one-day spike of 3997 coronavirus cases, while Kolkata reported 3966 cases.
However, some 18,454 patients recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of discharged people to 8,54,805.
Total discharge rate as on Sunday is 86.07 percent.
