Pradyot Kishore announces to forgo his salary for a year

Agartala, May 9 (UNI) Tripura royal scion and Chairman of Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman has announced to donate his entire one year salary for the welfare of people of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) area to fight Covid pandemic.

Pradyot is an elected Member of ADC and would get a handsome amount of monthly remuneration. In the last one year rule of administrator in ADC has exhausted all funds allocated for welfare activities and administrative expenses, which has become the biggest challenge for a newly elected council in ADC.

The ADC administration has now been facing an acute crisis to run the day to day activities, basic minimum amenities for the Chief Executive Member and Executive Members and carry out the development activities. Besides, announcing the decision of surrendering the monthly remuneration by Pradyot, several other elected members have already decided to forgo their amenities.

“I have decided not to take my entire years salary and donate it for people welfare especially to fight corona, repair homes and education. The ADC has hardly any funds for development and the least I can do is to forgo my salary. Will appeal to help to assist as well,” Pradyot said.

He has also asked the chief executive member Purna Chandra Jamatia to not allow any new construction unless the new council gets the audit done. Earlier this week, two elected members of ADC - Rajesh Tripura and Suhel Debbarma wrote a letter to the superintendent of police requesting to withdraw the escort vehicles provided to them and use the fund on the development of ADC.
