Dortmund: Borussia Dortmund ensured that Bayern Munich achieved its ninth consecutive Bundesliga title early in the record without even kicking a ball, thanks to second place in Leipzig with 3-2 at Signal Iduna Park.
Leipzig’s defeat on Saturday means he can no longer revive Bayern, who have a seven-point lead before beating Borussia Monchengladbach in the late game. Two rounds remain after this weekend’s matches.
Jadon Sancho scored twice for Dortmund after captain Marco Reus put his team ahead in the seventh minute. Sancho capitalized on a weak defense to make it 2-0 in the 51st.
German defender Lukas Klostermann withdrew in the 63rd one for the visitors, and Leipzig’s equalizer came in the 77th when Hwang Hee-chan shook off Mats Hummels’ challenge to set up Dani Olmo.
But Sancho saved the best for the last, and Raphaël Guerreiro played with his heel before running to accept the ball back and score in the 87th. This is Bayern’s 30th Bundesliga title and its 31st German championship, including the 1932 title. The Bundesliga was founded in 1963 and the rest of Bayern’s titles came after being promoted in 1965.
