It is also speculated that Chakravarthy, who had gone for scans on his shoulder might have caught the infection there. It was only after the players and support staff from teams had started testing positive, the decision to suspend the league was taken. Mostly, all the foreign players have been sent out of the country safely to different destinations.

Sources within the camp confirmed Krishna’s reports to be positive. “He is down with Covid-19. The results have come in and he has tested positive,” the source said. With so many positive cases coming out in the last week, the toll in the KKR camp is likely to go up, since the players were part of the same bio-bubble. Still, the teams have no clue, as to how the virus entered the bubble.

Warwickshire, Surrey and the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) have offered to host the IPL’s remaining 31 matches in September, according to www.espncricinfo.com. London Mayor Sadiq Khan last month said he was keen to bring the lucrative league, which attracts international cricket’s top players, to the city. “We will explore all the options and see when it’s feasible to play those matches and take a call at the right time,” BCCI treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal said by telephone. “Their offer has not been discussed yet. It’s too early.”

The four will isolate in England before joining the New Zealand team for its two-test series against England and for the World Test Championship final against India. The New Zealand-based members of the team will fly to England next week.The decision to transfer the group to the Maldives followed advice their departure from Delhi might be delayed.

One of two flights carrying the New Zealanders home has now left India but the other was delayed and will depart later Saturday. Seifert will be treated while in quarantine and will have to return a negative test before being allowed to return to New Zealand, where he faces a further 14 days of managed isolation.NZC chief executive David White said Seifert had tested negative seven times in the past 10 days before failing his pre-depature tests. White said he is confident the player will be well cared for while in quarantine.

New Zealand test cricket batsman Tim Seifert has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been refused permission to board a repatriation flight from India to New Zealand.Seifert was among a group of New Zealand players and support staff from the suspended Indian Premier League who were booked on a charter flight to New Zealand on Saturday. He failed both his pre-flight tests and has been taken into quarantine, New Zealand Cricket said in a statement.

“I am extremely conscious of what is going on in India and feel very fortunate to be so well looked after by the franchise,’’ the Chennai Super Kings assistant Michael Hussey told the Courier Mail. “I am resting in isolation at the moment and will hopefully get another negative test.’’ Fox Cricket reports that Hussey told the publication that he likely caught the virus from sitting next to bowling coach L Balaji, who was one of the first IPL participants to test positive.

Michael Hussey’s latest Covid-19 test has returned negative but he is still in isolation while a third KKR player has been tested positive and is barred from taking his flight back home.

It was reported that several English counties write to ECB of their interest in hosting the IPL in late September just after India England Test Series. Several top cricketers of both countries will be available and will be stationed in the country. A sizable Indian population only adds to the advantages.

Former England batter Kevin Pietersen is of the opinion that while many are suggesting UAE as the logical venue, he differs. As per Pietersen, who was in doing commentary duties in IPL 2021, the event should move to the United Kingdom.‘I have seen people talking about the UAE as a possible destination to finish the IPL in September but I actually think that the IPL should move to the UK,’ Pietersen told Betway Insider.
