Restriction: 9 days lockdown in Kerala from today, know what will be open and closed?

The Kerala government has announced a 10-day lockdown in the state to stop the spread of the coronavirus. It will start today (8 May) and will run till 16 May. In a meeting chaired by the state Chief Minister P Vijayan, a decision has been taken to impose lockdown in view of the rising outbreak of Corona.


According to the government order, all cinema halls, multiplexes, theaters, gyms, entertainment clubs, bars, auditoriums, religious places, markets, private and government offices will remain closed. However, the movement of essential commodities will not be prohibited. Essential shops, including ration shops, vegetable shops, will be open till 7:30 pm. Apart from this, the movement of banks, insurance companies, planes, buses, or trains will also continue in the state.

All government offices and public corporations will remain closed.

Emergency services including petrol pumps, military departments, railways, airports, ports, healthcare, police will be operational.

Hospitals and community health centers and medical establishments will remain open.

Permission has to be sought to open ration shops, fruits, and vegetables, dairy products, meat and fish, animal feed, poultry shops.

Banks will be open for the common people from 10 am to 1 pm. At least staff in the banks will be called.

Private companies will remain closed

All roadways and waterways transportation services will remain closed

Rail and air services will remain operational except metro.
