PATNA: A new oxygen plant set up by the state government at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) became functional on Friday. PMCH superintendent Dr I S Thakur said the plant, set up by the Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Ltd(BMSICL) would generate oxygen for over 50 cylinders per day. The oxygen cylinders filled by this plant would be used in the ICUs of medicine, surgery, burn and some other departments associated with emergency services provided to patients round-the-clock, he said. Besides running a Covid ward, PMCH has been the main healthcare centre for emergency treatment. Besides, construction of another liquid oxygen generation plant is in progress. “Likely to become functional by the month-end, this liquid oxygen plant would be able to fulfil the daily requirement of oxygen at PMCH,” said Thakur. PMCH principal Dr VP Choudhary, deputy superintendent Dr Abhishek Basuki and officials of BMSICL were present at the inauguration of the plant.
