The Fortuner in the video has been painted in black and it really suits the butch look of the SUV. There is also a lightbar installed on the roof of the Fortuner. Most of the chrome elements from the exterior has also been deleted from the Fortuner. The stock grille of the Fortuner has also been replaced with a TRD-spec grille that comes with a mesh design and is finished in black colour.
The owner has cleverly retained some of the chrome elements. For instance, the chrome surround around the fog lamps, chrome door handles, side cladding and the window belt. The window visors also have a slim strip of chrome. The alloy wheels are also finished in black but get a silver finish on the hub cap. We can also see that the LED tail lamps get a piano-black surround.
The Fortuner that we see in the video is a pre-facelifted one. Toyota launched the facelift of the Fortuner in Januuary’2021. Toyota updated the exterior, the interior and they also launched a new Legender variant. It also got a revised engine that made it more powerful.
The Fortuner gets sleeker-looking headlights with an LED projector headlamp and LED Daytime Running Lamp. The turn indicators have been repositioned and now they sit in the lower half of the bumper. The grille is more aggressive and the bumper has been redesigned as well with a larger new faux skid plate. There are some newly designed alloy wheels too. Besides the alloy wheels, there are no changes that one can make out from the side. The rear also sees some changes in the form of a new aggressive bumper and slightly redesigned LED tail lamps.
It is the Legender that has the ability to turn heads on the road. The entire front has been redesigned and is inspired by Lexus. So, there is a larger air dam and the grille that comes with a piano-black surround. There are different bi-projector LED headlamps with LED daytime running lamps. The turn indicators also come with swiping animation in the Legender. The alloy wheel design of the Legender is different from the regular Fortuner.
The interior also got an update in form of a new touchscreen infotainment system which is more modern as it offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology and an 11-speaker JBL sound system. Toyota now also offers ventilated front seats with the Fortuner. The Fortuner still misses out on a sunroof that its competitors, the Ford Endeavour and MG Gloster offer.
The engines are the same as the pre-facelifted one but the diesel engine has been retuned to produce more power. The 2.8-litre diesel engine produces 204 Bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. The 2.7-litre petrol engine produces 164 Bhp and a peak torque of 245 Nm. The Fortuner starts at Rs. 30.34 lakhs ex-showroom and the Legender costs Rs. 38.30 lakhs ex-showroom.
