Telangana returns to COVID-19 bulletins in the evening

Hyderabad: After almost ten months, the health department in Telangana has returned to the former practice of reaching out daily Covid media bulletin in the evening.

Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, Dr G. Srinivasa Rao, said that the bulletin would be issued in the evening during the daily briefing by him and direct medical education K. Ramesh Reddy.

After the pandemic broke out last year, the health authorities issued daily bulletins in the evenings. By the end of July, however, they began issuing bulletins in the morning, with comprehensive data of the 24-hour period, as prescribed by the High Court in Telangana.

The evening bulletin will cover the 24 hour period from 5.30pm the previous day.

According to the first bulletin issued on Friday according to the revised timetable, the state reported 5559 new Covid cases and 41 deaths.

The cumulative case rose to 4,877,199, while the death toll rose to 2,666.

The state has seen more recovery than the new cases. A total of 8,061 people recovered from the virus, bringing the cumulative number to 4,13,225.

The recovery rate improved further to 84.81 percent from the national average of 81.9 percent. The number of active cases also amounted to 71,308.

Authorities tested 65,375 samples during the 24-hour period. With this, the state has so far conducted 1 34.88 498 tests. The samples tested per million population increased to 3,62,399.

The daily number of cases in Greater Hyderabad has dropped to below 1,000. The state capital has reported 984 cases. Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri, adjacent to Hyderabad, reported 457 and 372 cases respectively.

Warangal Urban reported 296 cases, followed by 208 in Nalgonda, 201 in Siddipet, 201 in Karimnagar and 200 in Khammam.

Srinivasa Rao hoped that the current wave of Covid pandemic is likely to decrease in the next two to three weeks due to people’s compliance with Covidge – appropriate behavior and the government’s efforts to curb.

The government extended the night clock until May 15 and also imposed restrictions on rallies.

The director of public health has appealed to citizens not to give up their hats, postpone functions, avoid gatherings, wear double masks when outside and be alone in homes.
