I just left a job of 10 years this past September that was swing shift, similar to how you're describing it. 130k a year job and I HATED THE SHIFT. It is now 7 months later and I'm just starting to feel normal again mentally after doing that awful shift for so long. It would take a lot for me to ever consider working swinging 12s again.
That schedule is death. I walked around in a mental haze for almost ten years. I can't imagine what damage was done to my brain and I can only pray that it isn't irreversible. I'm starting to feel normal again so i'm hopeful that i'll be 100% eventually.
Studies have shown that shift workers live on average 10 years less than people who work normal schedules. 10 Years!!!
I'll take a 60k monday to friday dayshift, holidays and weekends off job, over a 150k swing shift job, every day and twice on sundays.
