- Meanwhile, the state government asked district authorities to increase the frequency of refilling of Oxygen cylinders in all health institution due to increasing requirement of oxygen for treatment of COVID patients amid rising cases in the state, as per an official statement.
Singapore reduces entry approvals for foreigners holding work passes
- In view of the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in several countries and emergence of new virus variants, the government is reducing entry approvals for work pass holders and their dependents entering Singapore in the coming weeks.
- "In this period of heightened alert, we are making changes to the entry of work pass holders who have earlier obtained approvals to arrive from higher risk countries and regions from Tuesday onwards," said the Ministry of Manpower on Friday.
- Construction, Marine Shipyard and Process (CMP) work pass holders who have earlier obtained approval will be allowed entry as approved, except for a small group with planned arrivals in June who will be rescheduled to arrive in subsequent weeks, said the ministry.
Chaos at COVID vaccine centre in Andhra's Guntur
- A chaos ensued as people rushed to take their dose of COVID-19 vaccine at Urban Health Centre in Narasaraopeta city of Guntur district on Friday.
- To control the situation, Narasaraopet Sub-Collector Srivas Nupur Ajay Kumar reached the spot and deployed police personnel. People are then made to form queues to get vaccinated.
France to impose mandatory quarantine for arrivals from Pakistan, 6 other countries
- Citing an update on the French Interior Ministry website, CNN reported that Pakistan, Turkey, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar have been included in the list. The total number of countries subject to a travel quarantine in France has now risen to 12.
- Earlier, India, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and South Africa were among the countries which requires a compulsory quarantine for 10 days, owing to a surge of COVID-19 cases from these countries.
- Travellers coming from the French department of Guiana are also subject to a mandatory 10-day quarantine, reported CNN.

Noida's new 50-bed COVID care facility to open from May 8
- A new 50-bed COVID care facility here will start admitting patients from May 8, the Noida Authority said on Friday.
- The facility, which will be managed by the Adani Group and other private partners and run by Delhi-based NGO 'Doctors For You', has come up in a short span of time.
- The makeshift hospital with a Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen generation plant on premises has come up in the shooting range of the Noida Stadium in Sector 21A, Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari said.
