Srinagar, May 8 (UNI) Expressing condolences on the demise of Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani, Special secretary Finance and Parshotam Lal, Deputy Director Prosecution (DDP), who died due to COVID-19, senior Communist Party of India (M) Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Saturday urged the government to take immediate steps to control the further spread of pandemic.
In a condolence message, he extended solidarity with the bereaved families of Dr Shamim , who also served as Deputy Commissioner Kulgam and Parshotam Lal, of R S Pura, Jammu, who had joined Police Headquarters few days back as DDP.
He remembered Dr Shamim as a dedicated, soft spoken and well-meaning officer who served with commitment in his capacity as Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam.
He also said there is an immediate need to augment health infrastructure in J&K, which includes ICU beds, ventilators and other essential medicines as Covid-19 was spreading like a wildfire.
Besides, there is also a need to accelerate vaccination drive and cover the maximum population at the earliest. There are reports of vaccine shortage as well which needs to be redressed on the priority.
