Kolkata, May 8 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday alleged
Centre did not work in last six months, ministers came to Bengal every day to capture it.
Speaking in the Bengal Assembly after Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Biman
Bandyopadhyay was elected the Speaker for the third time, Ms Banerjee said, “The
young generation has voted for us. This is a new morning for us.”
She said TMC has been elected back to power with a landslide mandate. It is a miracle
and historic. This was because of the people and women of Bengal.”
The chief minister directed the administration to take stern action against those trying to
provoke violence and communal tensions.
“Do not compromise, take stern action against people talking on communal lines as per
the law, be it me or anyone else,” she said.
Ms Banerjee alleged that the Election Commission of India (ECI) directly helped the
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the recently-concluded elections.
“Rigging took place in some places under the watch of the poll panel” in the assembly
elections in which her party cruised to a landslide victory, she said.
The chief minister said, "ECI needs immediate reforms. Bengal has a spine and it never
bows. There was a conspiracy, all central ministers landed here. I don’t know how many
crores they spent on planes and hotels. Money was flowing like water here."
“Why is there so much discrimination with Bengal? They sent the central team within 24
hours of oath-taking. Actually, they (BJP) are not ready to accept the public mandate.
I never support violence. They are spreading fake news and fake videos,” Ms Banerjee said.
The chief minister said, “Rs 30,000 crores is nothing for the central government... There
should be a universal vaccine program for all throughout the country.
On her demand for universal vaccination, she said that it should have been the Centre’s
priority but instead, the government is spending Rs 50,000 crore on the new Parliament
building, PM’s residence and statues among others.
Ms Banerjee said the central forces are roaming around in the state without undergoing
any RT-PCR tests, thus spreading the infection.
The opposition BJP MLAs boycotted the proceedings of the House protesting against
the killing of their party workers in the post-poll violence.
