Peddapalli: The chairman of Zilla Parishad, Putta Madhukar, who went missing tonight on April 30, was arrested by the Ramagundam police in Bhimavaram of Andhra Pradesh and brought to the commissariat on Saturday.
In a statement on Saturday, police said Madhukar was being questioned as to why he had gone underground for the past ten days.
Police have already questioned Madhukar in connection with the sensational murder of lawyer couple Gattu Vamana Rao and PV Nagamani.
However, Vamana Rao’s father, Kishan Rao, recently filed another complaint in connection with the murder of his son and daughter-in-law. Based on the complaint, the police arrested and questioned the ZP chairman, the statement said.
On the other hand, it was said that Madhukar, who is the closest associate of former minister and Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender, went missing when Rajender’s land grab episode came to light. His cell phone was also turned off.
Although police did not provide clarity in which case the ZP chairman was arrested, Madhukar faced allegations in the murder of lawyer couple. His cousin Bittu Srinu and followers were allegedly involved in the murder of lawyers.
It may be recalled here that on the basis of the court’s order, a case against Madhukar’s wife and the chairman of the Manthani municipality, Putta Shailaja, was also registered because they provided her cellphone to Bittu Srinu for a video call with someone from the courtroom.
