Kolkata, May 8 (UNI) Even as the West Bengal government announced partial lockdown
in the districts and city to break the chain of deadly viruses, the second surge of Covid-19
began to take record number of toll 127 in the past 24 hours.
Of the 127 deaths reported on Saturday, North 24 pargans district topped the list with
39 casualties, followed by Kolkata 34, Hooghly 9, South 24 parganas 7 Howrah 6,
and Paschim Medinipur 5.
With the rise of pandemic patients, particularly in urban and city areas, the scarcity of
medical facility of was also felt.
In the past 24 hours the graph went upto 19436 new covid cases and death was reported
to 127 and total death so far 12203 since March 2020
North 24 pargans has registered a one-day spike of 3982 coronavirus cases, while Kolkata
reported 3961 cases.
However, some 18,243 patients recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours, taking
the total number of discharged people to 8,36,351.
Total discharged rate as on Tuesday is 85.89 percent.
