Ballari , May 8 (UNI) Karnataka Industries minister Jagadish Shettar on Saturday said though election rallies are one of the many reasons for exponential increase in covid-19 infections but people should take care of themselves to stem the spread of the contagion.
Addressing mediapersons here, Mr Shettar, who is also Minister in-charge of augmenting oxygen supplies in the state, said that state requires 1,750 MT oxygen per day, and on the Supreme Court's order, Central government has increased the oxygen allocation to the state to 1,200 Metric tons from 965 MT, providing immediate relief.
Mr Shettar also said that Jindal Steel Limited, Ballari produces 1,000 MT of Oxygen and agreed to provide the lion's share to Karnataka for medical purposes.
He said that the state government is also looking for restarting defunct oxygen plants in the state for fulfilling the requirement of oxygen.
