You’d have seen her in YouTube videos, acting in short movies, appearing in ads that we see on the television and in many more such popular gigs. But what we really remember her from is the time she played the role of younger Tina in the movie Mujhse Dosti Karoge! For those of you getting confused, we aren’t talking about Kareena Kapoor Khan here, but actress Barkha Singh who played her younger version in the movie.
Acting since she was a little girl, Barkha Singh might be just 28 years old, but she has technically spent more time in the industry that a lot of actors we know. And dating back to the time when she was a child auditioning for the Yash Chopra Banner film, Barkha Singh recalls how it wasn’t a cake walk.
To have been picked among 600 to 700 children who auditioned for the role, Barkha Singh called her role as young Kareena Kapoor one of the most difficult ones to crack. She said, “I do remember giving the audition for that role and it was a tough process. There were about 600-700 kids who auditioned for the role of young Tina, and I want there pretty chill after school, just in an attempt to make my mother buy me ice cream on the way.”

She continued saying, “It just happened that I got it but I did give five rounds of auditions for that. People sometimes still do remember it and especially one phrase, where we go like, “Tina… Pooja”. That kind of got stuck with the people, but thankfully now people recognise me for my more recent work,” in an interview with SpotboyE.
She also added, “A lot of times people still do refer to me as young Kareena and it’s surprising that people actually remember that. They even say that my face is still the same, although I don’t know whether to take it as a compliment.”
At present, the young actress is finding her footing in the industry with creative projects, short films and also appearing in a few digital series. She recently was seen in Manoj Bajpayee’s Silence… Can You Hear It? giving a stellar performance.
