Turkey is anticipating greeting a Russian delegation to the country so that they can have an idea directly the steps incorporated for the flawless and healthy functioning of tourism and keep the vacationers safe and protected from the virus outbreak, on Thursday, the Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister, Nadir Alpaslan said.
Alpaslan informed the Anadolu Agency that last week a Ukrainian team visiting Turkey found the Safe Tourism Certificate Program to be doing well.
“We also have such a project for Russia,” Alpaslan said, emphasizing that it may be likely to receive the Russian delegation in the coming weeks.
“We host delegations from some countries in Turkey and demonstrate our practices and the measures we have taken,” he said, emphasizing that they have both incorporated additional measures in Turkey and made promotions abroad within the framework of the program in 2020.
In Turkey, tourist arrivals continue, even though experiencing a drip for now, Alpaslan stated that noting that at present, tourists from Russia are not allowed to travel Turkey, as restrictions continue in European countries, as well.
“However, we have visitors from Eastern Europe, the Middle East and some other countries in very limited numbers,” he added.
The Culture and Tourism Ministry, which had arranged foreign ambassadors and tourism professionals and journalists from Germany and displayed the Safe Tourism Certificate Program applications on-site, organized a delegation headed by Oleksandr Tkachenko, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine most recently.
Highlighting that the team left Turkey with happiness, Alpaslan mentioned that Ukraine is Turkey’s one of the sought-after markets.
He also mentioned that at present the significance of each market has been boosted up, particularly at a time when Russia imposes restrictions on flights.
“More than 1.5 million Ukrainian visitors traveled to our country in 2019. Despite the pandemic conditions last year, around 1 million Ukrainian visitors came. We showed them measures in place. The Ukrainian market is still open, visitors continue to come,” he explained.
