Telangana to ensure fast transport of oxygen

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is taking special measures to ensure uninterrupted and fast transportation of medical oxygen tankers. Secretary-General Somesh Kumar on Friday ordered all officials involved to work with coordination.

He asked transport department officials to put together teams with logistics experts to transport oxygen tankers on two routes and return within the shortest time from Angur, Odisha and Bellari, Karnataka.

He ordered officials to speak with rail officials to provide the Green Channel facility for the uninterrupted movement of the Oxygen Express to reduce travel time to three days from six days.

He also asked officials to provide police assistance along with mechanics and other experts to deal with any adverse incidents.

He suggested officials adapt the tankers where they can be easily lifted with cargo planes.

He wanted officials to put together teams with drivers and mechanics to use the tankers 24 hours a day at designated points and put together additional tankers from private contractors to add the current 30 fleet of oxygen-transporting tankers.

Earlier, the general secretary visited the largest Gandhi hospital Covid treatment facility.

He inspects the new section that has been prepared for Covid patients in the library building with 160 extra beds.

It will be launched soon. Somesh Kumar also visited the triage facility and chatted with the doctors and staff.

He also inspected the new oxygen generation plant which started on Friday with a capacity of 4 tons per day. It will be able to provide about 400 patients.

The top bureaucrat examined the works regarding sanitation, street lighting and oxygen pipeline to provide better facilities to the patients.
