Kamal Haasan’s MNM relieves R Mahendran from all party posts

CHENNAI: Santhosh Babu, secretary (headquarters) of actor Kamal Haasan’s MNM, on Friday said party vice-president R Mahendran has been relieved from party positions and responsibilities.
The party faced a post-poll jolt on Thursday when Mahendran submitted his resignation from the party primary membership. He listed out the reasons for his decision and slammed Kamal for listening to an external consultancy on key political decisions and functioning in an undemocratic manner. Kamal hit back calling Mahendran a “betrayer” and a “stumbling block” for several hard-working cadres’ growth.
Santhosh Babu said party general secretaries, who took the onus on the party’s poll debacle, had submitted their resignations from their respective posts and not from the party as it was rumoured. The party leader would take a decision on their resignation, he said in a statement.
