All-time high: India records 4.14 lakh new Covid cases in a day

NEW DELHI: India on Friday reported a record 4.14 lakh new Covid-19 cases taking the total tally of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country to 2.15 crore. With more than 3,900 new deaths, India's Covid-19 death has reached 2.34 lakh, as per Union health ministry data.
On Friday, India reported 4,14,188 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours with the total tally of cases at 2,14,91,598, as per health ministry data updated at 8 am.

The country witnessed 3,915 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total death toll to 2,34,083, as per the ministry. Daily deaths have stayed above 3,000 for 10 days now, with cumulative fatalities at 36,110, translating to an average of 150 deaths every hour.

This is the highest death toll reported by any country for a 10-day span. According to WHO, the highest number of cumulative deaths reported by the US for 10 consecutive days is 34,798 while the corresponding figure for Brazil is 32,692.

The highest deaths in Mexico and the UK for a similar period are 13,897 and 13,266, respectively.
While there are 36,45,164 active cases, the number of recoveries stand at 1,76,12,351. Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country are 16,49,73,058.
