GUWAHATI: Discharged Covid-19 patients may face certain health issues resulting in readmission to hospitals in some extreme cases.
“Post-Covid complications may be there in some patients. People with co-morbidities may be at risk. All patients are being advised to follow Covid-19 protocols and doctor’s advice. One should keep on checking the oxygen level. People should have a nutritious and balanced diet,” a senior city-based doctor said.
The state health department has created an online medical consultation facility for Covid-19 positive patients under home isolation, discharged patients and other patients. After registration, people can avail this facility. The department has also shared a list of doctors’ names with their contact numbers for consultation.
However, this has posed a challenge for the under-privileged as they are not tech-savvy. “The department should think of a facility which everyone can use,” a Covid-19 survivor said.
He said he was weak for several days. “Other than that, I had no specific issues. Patients need to focus on good food to boost their immunity,” he added.
In view of the rising Covid-19 positive cases, the state government is trying to better its medical infrastructure, especially intensive care units and oxygen cylinders.
The state health minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Thursday said the situation in the state is worsening. “I request everyone to adhere to the guidelines laid down by the department to avoid a possible lockdown,” he added.
On Wednesday, 4,826 new cases were detected across the state while 55 patients succumbed to the infection. The total active cases crossed 29,000 on Wednesday. The death toll was 41 on Tuesday.
