LP Covid warrior recovers from treatment at Hyderabad Hospital

Hyderabad: Satyendra Mishra, a leading doctor at Bundelkhand Medical College and Madhya Pradesh Hospital, has been discharged from Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad after treatment for Covid-19.

The small team Covid fighter, who was airlifted to Hyderabad on April 19, was discharged on Thursday.

According to Srinivas Rajagopala, the medical director of lung transplantation at Yashoda Hospital, Mishra suffered extensive damage to his lungs due to Covid-19 and remained dependent on the ventilator with high oxygen requirements and in the critical phase of its disease.

“The first step we offered was prone ventilation and guideline-based care, and he had a good response to this treatment and we successfully removed him from the ventilator at the end of the first week of treatment,” he said. he said.

“It is especially important that he did not have any added infection or higher antibiotics during this treatment, as evidenced by our excellent intensive care and nursing practices at our unit at Yashoda Hospitals Secunderabad,” Rajagopala said.

The small team Covid fighter was struck in the duty and sustained severe lung damage unresponsive to oxygen therapy and intermittent non-invasive ventilation.

‘It was clear he needed ventilation and possibly extracorporeal lung support (ECMO) to save him. It is also becoming increasingly clear that a significant part of Covid-ARDS patients remain ECMO-dependent after 4-6 weeks and require lung transplantation. Mishra of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Bundelkhand Medical College in Sagar City treated Covid patients for more than a year. He recently contracted coronavirus and after his condition became critical, health authorities in Madhya Pradesh decided to transport him to Hyderabad for advanced treatment.

Madivya Pradesh, Prime Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has secured all aid for the treatment of Mishra after his colleagues from Bundelkhand Medical College called for help in rescuing him.
