GANDHINAGAR: It was resolved at a meeting of the core committee for Covid control on Thursday that all MLAs will have to compulsorily allot a minimum of Rs 50 lakh from their local area development funds to upgrade facilities at hospitals.
Every MLA will be required to allot the sum which will be used to purchase medical equipment for civil hospitals, district hospitals, community health centres (CHC), primary health centres (PHC) and hospitals run by civic bodies.
A government statement said MLAs can allot the funds to such hospitals in their constituencies. It was also decided that MLAs can also donate from their grants to hospitals run by charitable trusts, provided these are working on a not-for-profit basis.
Listing down items that can be bought from grants made by MLAs, the government release said 10-litre oxygen concentrators, high-flow oxygen therapy devices, BiPAP machines, multi-para monitors, syringe infusion pumps, liquid oxygen storage tanks and pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen generation units can be purchased.
