Genesis G70 estate teased – Audi A4 Avant rival to launch later this year
Genesis is aiming at the Euro heartland with the 3-series Touring and A4 Avant-rivalling G70 estate
Genesis has its sights on the European heartland with its next new model teased in these images. The new model will be a rakish estate version of the G70 saloon, a BMW 3-series sized compact executive that is due to join the Genesis range in the UK and Europe after the larger G80 saloon and GV80 launch the brand later this year.
The G70 is an apex rival to cars like the BMW 3-series, Audi A4 and Mercedes C-class in the USA and Asia, but this second bodystyle is a clear statement of intent to really make an impact in the European market.

While no specifics have been revealed, the G70 saloon has been on sale in those markets for about three years now, underpinned by a compact rear-wheel drive chassis and general engine choices shared with the Kia Stinger. This includes a twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 variant with 360bhp, a performance derivative designed to rival mid-power Germans like the BMW M340i and Mercedes-AMG C43.
Genesis hasn’t just thrown a big engine in the G70 and just let it be either, with a sophisticated powertrain package that incorporates adaptive dampers, an electronically controlled limited slip differential and a chunky set of Brembo brakes. Genesis also completed development cycles right here in Europe too, utilising its German base to co-develop the G70 under the same engineering leadership that brought us the Hyundai i30 N. We have every reason to believe this estate version will offer the same when it arrives.
Some markets also offer an all-wheel drive option, but it’s unknown what other combinations of power and drivetrain options Genesis will offer when both the saloon and this new estate are launched in European markets later this summer. Either way, while Genesis will have a big focus on SUVs and all-electric models in future, there are still a few promising high performance highlights that should certainly bring a bit more colour to the market.
