New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) Former Supreme Court judge M Y Eqbal passed away here on Friday morning.
He was 70.
He served as the judge of the apex court from December 24, 2012, to February 12, 2016.
Born on February 13, 1951, Justice Eqbal started his legal practice in the year 1975 in Ranchi.
He was the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court for nearly two and a half years before being elevated to the top court as a judge.
Chief Justice NV Ramana expressed deep sorrow at the passing away of the former Supreme Court justice.
Recalling his association with Justice (Retired) Eqbal, Justice Ramana described him as "a conscientious professional who stood for humane values."
