Who else gets this? A fried CNS after heavy lifting. Tonight I did:
- Farmer Walks
- Sled Pushes
- Box Jumps
- Pullups
- Curls
- Rows
Any time I do a heavy compound movement I will not be able to go to sleep. BRB taking melatonin and I feel nothing. Any remedies you guys found out that work for you?

Insomnia after heavy lifting?

I lift in the evening yes but my pre-workout doesn't have caffeine in it. Just a bunch of nootropics and ergogenics to get through the workout.
I drink coffee/tea mid morning and early afternoon but no more than one cup of coffee and maybe a tea now. I try to limit my caffeine intake because I'm already a night owl. My girlfriend gets onto me about my sleep srs.
Caffeine free.
Ah word yeah it was a productive workout. I recall the first time I did tire flips every I couldn't go to sleep lol. That was 10-11 years ago.“If you think about disaster, you will get it. Always have done my workouts after work and pre dinner.
I figured it gave me time to warm up gently throughout the day so that joints and tendons/ligaments etc are ready.
So how long would it take cortisol to start affecting me post workout?
I finish lifting around 6 - 6:30pm and sleep at 10 - 10:30pm
I can usually fall asleep OK but noticed that sometimes it takes hours. Could it be worth changing my routine to morning lifting?

Asian rub and tug followed by a huge carb heavy meal
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.
The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."
The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

The intensity of the exercise impacts how long the levels are elevated, and I’d imagine it’s different from person to person. Generally morning exercise will increase it for a while but by the evening it will be below baseline, which is why exercise can help improve sleep quality. Obviously going hard too close to bedtime will make it worse though.
Actually carbs can help blunt the cortisol response.
And obviously the rub and rug would help in other ways.+positive crew+

Yeah I lift in the evenings and It ****s my sleep. Don’t take prewo or anything.
Sleep like a baby on no lifting days when I do cardio in the evening tho.Lifts:
Squat: 460x1
Bench: 400x1
Deadlift: 575x1
OHP: 250x2
Weight: 180 lbs.
Don't have heroes; look up to no one. Because as long as someone's leading the way, the best you'll ever be is second.

I aged myself like 20 years by working out religiously at 10pm srs. Used to workout at 10 pm and hang out at the gym till midnight, get home around 1 am and have to get up for work at 7 am. Probably only slept a few legit hours a night. Don't be like me. I've since corrected that.
