Fresh surge in corona cases with 117 deaths in Bengal, North 24 parganas topped list of casualty

Kolkata, May 6 (UNI) Even as the West Bengal government announced partial lockdown

in the districts and city from Saturday last to break the chain of deadly viruses, the second

surge of Covid-19 began to take record number of toll 117 in the past 24 hours.

Of the 117 deaths reported on Thursday, North 24 pargans district topped the list with

36 casualties, followed by Kolkata 33, South 24 pargans 10 and Hooghly 4.

With the rise of pandemic patients, particularly in urban and city areas, the scarcity of

medical facility of was also felt.

In the past 24 hours the graph went upto 18431 new covid cases and death was reported

to 117 and total death so far 11,964 since March 2020

North 24 pargans has registered a one-day spike of 3922 coronavirus cases, while Kolkata

reported 3887 cases.

However, some 17,412 patients recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours, taking

the total number of discharged people to 8,00,328 .

Total discharged rate as on Tuesday is 85.59 percent.
