The new image settings not only lets users upload photos on Twitter in its entirety but also lets users preview the picture in the tweet composer. The new update is being hailed by artists and video creators on the platform, who are now sharing their vertical art, which used to get cropped before the feature was introduced.

"Today's launch is a direct result of the feedback people shared with us last year that the way our algorithm cropped images wasn't equitable," CNet quoted a Twitter spokesperson. Twitter has been called out in the past on charges of racial bias in its photo preview generator. Twitter has noted that very wide or tall images will still be center-cropped by default but that Twitter is working on it.
Twitter first tested the feature in March noting that users will not be required to expand an image on their timelines to view in its entirety after the update. The new feature, however, will take away the ability of users to post "open for a surprise" images that were popular on the platform. Twitter for desktop already could view images in full resolution.
Twitter has also acquired an ad-free reading service Scroll as the micro-blogging site looks to build and shape a future subscription service on Twitter. Scroll allows users to read articles without the ads, pop-ups, and other clutter giving readers clean access to just the content. Twitter notes that publishers who work with Scroll can bring in more revenue than they would from traditional ads on a page. Further, Twitter has enabled the ability to host spaces for Android users with over 600 followers.
