House of the Dragon is set 300 years before the events depicted in Game of Thrones. It is based on George RR Martin's Fire & Blood novel, chronicling the story of the rise and fall of the House of Targaryen in a time before dragons became "extinct" and passed into myth.
On Wednesday, the official Twitter account shared three first-look images featuring Emma D'Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen; Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon; Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower and Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower.
