Mumbai, May 6 (UNI) Maharashtra reported 62,194 new COVID-19 cases and 853 deaths in the last 24 hours, a health bulletin said on Thursday.
The fresh surge has taken the infections tally to 49,42,736 while the death toll to 73,515.
At the same time, the highest 63,842 peoples recovered from the virus, taking the number of recoveries to 42,27,940 in the state.
The recovery rate has now fallen to 85.24 per cent, owing to the sudden spurt in cases. The fatality rate is 1.49 per cent.
The state has an active caseload of 6,39,075 patients, undergoing treatment at different Covid Care Centres and hospitals.
