Declare scribes as frontline warriors: AMWJU, EGM

Imphal, May 05 2021: The All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) and the Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) have urged the State Government to recognise the working journalists and other media workers of the State as frontline warriors and announce the same.

The above resolution was adopted in an emergency meeting of AMWJU and EGM held today at Manipur Press Club in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and to protect the media personnel from COVID-19 .

The meeting also resolved to issue the following Dos and Don'ts:
To ban all press meet/conference/public gathering at the Manipur Press club for the time being.

All reporters/correspondents have been advised not to participate in any press meet called by any individual/ organisation.

Any organisation and individual wishing to hold or release press statement are requested to self record and send the press release/statement/video clips through electronic means via mail/whatsapp of individual media firms to the authorised given whatsapp number 8259860539 and email-amwju1974@gmail.com.All reporters are advised against participating in any media tour/pick up programme for the time being.

All the Government press communications are requested to be sent through the Directorate of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) or to the authorised given whatsapp number 8259860539 and email-amwju1974@gmail.com.And Government Health Authority is requested to provide a list of panel members to speak/participate/give comment in a panel discussion/query from media houses in connection to COVID-19 and its related issues.
