NEW DELHI: The meeting of the high powered committee to select the director of CBI is likely to be held next week. The panel could not meet till now because of assembly elections in five states. The panel comprises Prime Minister, Chief Justice of India and leader of the largest opposition party in Lok Sabha.
The top CBI post fell vacant on February 3 and the CBI additional director was named as the officiating director. As the Centre could not convene the meeting of the selection panel in next few weeks, Congress leader on the panel Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury left for West Bengal elections which have just ended.
