Thiruvananthapuram: The government of Kerala on Thursday from May 8 announced a complete lockdown in the state in light of the severe COVID-19 surge in the second wave of the pandemic.
The 9-day closure takes effect on May 8 in the morning, according to official sources, and lasts until May 16.
In the southern state, there are already strict restrictions such as the closure of power, and the government of Pinarayi Vijayan has decided to limit the complete shutdown in the positive cases.
Kerala on Wednesday reported the highest surge of one day in positive cases, adding 41,953 infections.
