Herbalife discloses Carl Icahn has sold off remaining stake

Herbalife Nutrition Ltd. HLF, +3.28% disclosed Thursday that billionaire activist investor Carl Icahn has sold off his entire stake in the nutritional supplements seller, effectively ending his eight-year involvement with the company. After disclosing in January that Icahn In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Herbalife said Icahn now owns 0% of the shares outstanding. In January, it was disclosed that Icahn trimmed his stake to 8.02 million shares, or 6.7% of the shares outstanding. At that time, Icahn had also reportedly planned to give up his seats on Herbalife's board of directors. Herbalife's stock rallied 2.2% in morning trading. It has edged up 1.0% year to date, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.08% has gained 10.8%.
