Mark Wahlberg showed off his transformation for his new role on Instagram earlier this week. The actor gained 9kgs in three weeks for the upcoming film Father Stu.
Before the 49-year-old embarked on his weight gain journey, he joked on Jimmy Kimmel Live that his first meal would be a 20-piece chicken nugget meal, hot wings from Kentucky Fried Chicken and a six-pack beer.
In reality, though, the Oscar nominee worked with a professional to put on the weight as healthily as possible. His chef of seven years, Lawrence Duran, told USA Today that Mark consulted a doctor and a nutritionist.
"We've got a whole team that works together, and this is a lot to take on in a short period of time, so we have to make sure that his health is at its best," said Lawrence.
To put on the 9kgs, the Ted actor upped his calorie intake from 2 000 to 7000 and has been eating seven to eight meals a day.
As for what Mark eats in a day, the chef told E News that his first breakfast is four eggs; after his workout around 05:00 to 06:00, he has eight eggs, bacon, rice, olive oil and a protein shake. The rest of the day's meals consists of ground beef or turkey, a veal or pork chop, salmon, steak and a nightcap mash of steel-cut oatmeal with jam, almond butter and molasses.
