Nigerian mobile phone subscriptions drop by 12 mln in Q1 as SIM registration hits

Thursday 6 May 2021 | 11:13 CET | News
The number of mobile phone subscriptions decreased to 192.41 million in March from 204.52 million in December 2020, according to the latest statistics from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). The decrease can be attributed to the 10 December 2020 suspension of the sale and registration of new SIM cards to allow an audit of the subscriber registration database by linking SIMs to individuals via their national identification numbers (NINs).
