Hyderabad: The rains that have been falling in the last few days in Hyderabad have not only provided some relief from the scorching temperatures, but it has also reduced air pollution in the city, figures from the State Pollution Control Council have shown.
The values of the air quality index (AQI) in the city have fallen to fall into the category ‘satisfactory’.
According to the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) figures of the past few days, the AQI was mostly in the ‘satisfactory’ category.
Hyderabad on Thursday recorded AQI at 62, which falls under the ‘satisfactory category’.
According to TSPCB, AQI levels (0-50) are indexed under the category ‘Good’, (51-100) under ‘Satisfactory’, (101-200) under ‘Moderate’, (201-300) under ‘Poor’, ( 301-400) under ‘Very poor’, and (More than 400) under ‘Severe’ category.
According to PCB scientists, pollutant particles washed away in the air due to the rainfall, which led to improved air quality.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorms and rain are likely to occur in isolated places across the state over the next four days.
