Ghaziabad: The district authorities on Wednesday launched a drive to provide Covid medicines in rural areas. According to officials, Asha and Anganwadi workers will conduct door-to-door survey and provide medicines to symptomatic and positive patients. About 5,000 medicine kits will be distributed per day between May 5 and May 9.
In view of increasing cases in the rural areas, the state government has directed all districts to launch this campaign to identify symptomatic patients and provide them medical aid. For this, every district was asked to prepare a micro plan and form one team comprising two members for every 1,000 population. Apart from Asha and Anganwadi workers, the help of monitoring committees and teachers could be taken, the government order further stated.
State-appointed nodal officer Senthil Pandian C, during a review meeting on Wednesday, looked into the preparations of the health department in this regard and directed the teams to distribute 3,000 to 5,000 medicine kits daily.
“For this, the health department has been asked to increase the number of rapid response teams. Apart from Asha and Anganwadi workers, I have asked civil defence volunteers, staff at sampling booths, monitoring committees in villages and civic body staff to carry out the drive. This campaign will help not only detecting the cases at an early stage but also reducing the pressure of patients on hospitals,” Pandian told TOI.
