South African rapper AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes, is scheduled to perform at the virtual rendition of Huawei Joburg Day 2021, Primedia confirmed.
"With the line-up including artists like AKA and Mi Casa, South African music lovers can look forward to a fun music experience with the highest production values," said Thando Makhunga, 947 station manager.
The entire event can be experienced free on 947.co.za, and listened to live on 947 at 16:00 on 28 May 2021.
This will be the rapper's first public performance following the death of his fiancée Anele 'Nelli' Tembe.
The 22-year-old fell to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Loop street in Cape Town on 11 April.
At the funeral service, which took place at the Durban International Conference Centre on 16 April, Anele's father said he did not believe his daughter died by suicide.
AKA's publicist, Pumza Nohashe, released a statement on behalf of the rapper following the funeral, saying: "I miss Anele so much, and I'm broken at the unfulfilled life we had planned together." He did not speak at the funeral service.
On Wednesday, the rapper broke his social media silence with an Instagram post, quoting the Bible verse John 16:33.
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world," he captioned a photo of himself, seated with his head facing the ground.
Channel24 reached out to AKA's publicist to confirm his attendance at Huawei Joburg Day 2021. The article will be updated should more information become available.
