MTN Ghana hikes voice, data tariffs as govt raises levies to fund coronavirus recovery

MTN Ghana says it will be charging more for calls and data services from 01 May to make up for the 1 percent increase in the National Health Insurance Levy following the introduction of the Covid-19 health recovery levy by the government. The government announced in the 2021 budget that it will be introducing a Covid-19 Health Levy of 1 percent on the VAT Flat Rate Scheme (VFRS), and 1 percent on the National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL).
